How it works

  1. 1The armature is located on centres or a precision collet.
  2. 2The spindle runs at the programmed speed while the X and Z servo axes feed the diamond tool.
  3. 3A finish pass removes the last stock at low feed for surface quality.
  4. 4Chips are extracted and the part is unloaded to the next station.

Questions

What commutator runout does the machine hold?

≤0.008 mm TIR on the turned surface, measured between centres. What reaches the finished motor also depends on shaft straightness and commutator pressing, which the turning station cannot correct.
